What is ECDL?
The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is a qualification recognised around the world for basic computing skills. Anyone who completes the ECDL qualification in any country within the European Union completes the same syllabus. Many employers recognise ECDL accreditation as a basic qualification for ICT.
ECDL consists of 7 learning modules:
- Basic concepts of IT
- Using the Computer and Managing Files
- Word Processing
- Spreadsheets
- Databases
- Presentation
- Information and Communication
How long does it take to gain accreditation?
If you have no computer skills at all you will need approximately 80 hours to complete the course. If you already have experience of using a computer you may need less time. Once you have registered you will have 3 years to complete the ECDL accreditation.
Do I need a computer to be able to take the course?
You do not need a computer at home but the more you are able to practise, the more quickly you will be able to develop your skills. If you register for ECDL at the Kingwood CLC you will have access to an individual workstation and support from an accredited trainer.
Where do I do the tests?
You can only take the tests at an accredited training centre. If you are a registered ECDL student you can take the tests at the Kingwood City Learning Centre.
